I can go a few months sometimes doing only a handful of 4圆s, then I will go a solid month or two printing out over a 100 to almost 200 pictures.

While I don't need a wide format printer, I rarely go larger than 8x10, the option is nice plus its almost impossible to find a serious photo printer that isn't wide format. Most of my prints go either in an album or are framed. They are usually color but I do like to dabble in black and white. I mostly do prints on semi-gloss, rarely matte. I'm not sure if these models have reached the level of ink stability and longevity of the Epson ink, which has held me back from seriously considering them.

I've always liked the idea of a replaceable print head on the Canon, but have been a bit leery on their ink light fastness. Both have huge mail in rebate offers on them. I've also got an eye on the Canon Pixma Pro9000 MkII and maybe the Pro9500 MkII if I can find one for a good deal. After rebate, both are within $50 of each other. Other Epson's I have been considering are the Epson R2000 or maybe the R2880. I've been contemplating either getting another Epson 1400 or replacing it with the new Epson Artisan 1430 (essentially the same printer). But being that almost every Epson printer I have had to replace was due to some form of clogged print head or head failure, I'm starting to look at other options. I feel their ink is some of the best and have always enjoyed the prints I got. I've been an Epson fan for years with exception to their irreplaceable print heads.

If anyone doesn't have any other suggestions I can try to fix her, then maybe some advice as to what to replace her with? The printer is probably about 3-4 years old and its a shame to have to replace it. It's almost as if the connection or communication to the magenta and cyan just stopped. I decided to further troubleshoot by reseating the cartridges, unplugging the USB cable, powering off/on, uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers, did a few cleanings, printed a few pages of nothing but magenta, and even checking for any other loose connections. It's strange being that not even two prints before my photos looked immaculate with not a bit of fade, smudging, or lines and to all of sudden look like crap. But I am not even getting a smudge or drip of magenta or cyan. Yellow, black, light cyan, and light magenta are all coming out just fine. I ran a nozzle check and noticed that I am not getting a lick of magenta or cyan. I checked my cartridges and I had plenty of ink, most having just been replaced within the past two months and are mostly full. Areas that should be brown were bright yellow, etc.

As I was printing my final photo of the night I noticed that the colors looked horrible.
